KARACHI: At least six people, including a Station House Officer (SHO) of Kalakot Police Civil Line, Lyari, Fawad Khan, has been killed in a hand grenade attack, SAMAA reported on Saturday.
According to the police, two policemen also received injuries in the attack.
Earlier, three people were killed in troubled area of Lyari, a gang war suspect among them, during police operation against criminal elements.
Two-day long exchange of criminals and police confined residents of Lyari inside their home in a ‘stronghold’ of ruling PPP where police commandos entered for a decisive crackdown ordered by President Asif Ali Zardari to purge the area of such elements ahead of general polls.
During Saturday’s action three people were killed, among them a suspected gangster Sohail.
Unidentified men hurled hand grenades and fired rockets on police mobiles, resorting to aerial firing in streets of Lyari.
Claiming recovery of heavy arms and ammunition, Senior Superintendent Police (SSP) CID Chaudhry Aslam says the operation would be over in couple of days.
