National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman Admiral retired Fasih
Bokhari has said that Rs 825 million have been recovered from the owners
of Rental Power Plants (RPPs) in response to notices issued by the NAB
following the Supreme Court orders.
He said that procedure of plea-bargain can be used for the recovery of the money.
According to media reports, NAB had given 48-hour ultimatum to rental power companies to return the money. In response to the deadline three companies submitted pay orders of Rs 600 million by Friday while another company submitted a cheque of Rs 225 million.
According to NAB authorities, most of the companies had agreed to return the money voluntarily and to keep 25 percent of the shares with them.
Meanwhile, Federal Minister for Information and Technology Raja Pervez Ashraf appeared before NAB probe team. He was quizzed over RPPs agreements for three hours.
