KARACHI: The KSE-100 index was higher by 74.89 points on Friday’s first session close.

Traded volume stood at 127,004,243 shares bearing a value of Rs3,294,887,870, with 171 symbols advancing higher, 107 declined and 17 unchanged.
The volume leader in the first session was PTCL with 18.59 million shares traded, with a price increase of Rs.1. Other volume leaders were Lafarge Pakistan, Jahangir Siddiqui Co. and KESC, with 11.85 million, 10.98 million and 9.58 million shares traded respectively. While the shares of Lafarge and JS lost Rs0.28 and and Rs0.44 respectively, KESC rose by Rs0.44, a gain of more than 10 per cent.
Other notable gainers were UBL and Fauji Fertilizer, rising Rs3.42 and Rs3.47 with traded volumes of 1.62 million and 3.05 million shares respectively.
Amongst the losers, Cherat Cement and OGDCL lost Rs1.35 and Rs1.20 on traded volumes of 539,628 and 181,806 shares respectively.
Oil and gas, chemicals and the banking sector pushed the market higher, while the cement sector was largely seen in the red.
The second session will commence at 2:30 PM, after namaz break.
