Sharif brothers should respond if they are innocent: Malik

ISLAMABAD: Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik on Sunday continued launching tirade against Sharif brothers by accusing them of ‘robbing’ country banks of over six billion rupees, SAMAA reports.

“To unearth the looted money I will present all documental evidences against Nawaz Sharif and Shahbaz Sharif in courts. The nation has a right to know the truth, it could not be hoodwinked,” Malik said while speaking at a news conference at his resident here in the federal capital.

With escalated war of words, PPP quarters unleashed accusation against Sharifs after PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif asked Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani to step down following a conviction by the Supreme Court and threatened to use all options to send the government packing if the demand was not met.

Gilani faced the conviction in contempt of court case for not ordering reopening of multi-million-dollar corruption cases against President Zardari.

Malik on Sunday almost repeated the allegations he leveled on Saturday while speaking to media with a pile of files lying in front of him

“I have proofs of all misappropriations and robbing and will public them next week,” Malik claimed, adding that he might appear in the court if it summoned him.

Malik claimed that London high court had declared Shahbaz Sharif a ‘defaulter’. He further added that Sharif brothers held meetings with officials of secret agencies during their exile period.

He threatened that PPP jiyalas would march against PML-N if they continued confronting with the ruling party. “We are not wearing bangles. PPP jiyalas from all over Pakistan will march to Riawind against Sharif brothers.”

About PPP’s relations with Imran Khan’s Tehrik-e-Insaf, who also called for Gilani’s resignation, Malik said “we have no conflict with PTI.”

Lyari residents protest against police operation

KARACHI: Residents of Lyari locality on Sunday took to streets against the ongoing crackdown by police to eliminate alleged criminal elements, SAMAA reports.

Chanting slogans against provincial government authorities and burning tyres on roads, people from Jahangir Road Baloch Para staged protest demonstration at Guru Mandir area.
The protest caused severe traffic jam on M.A Jinnah Road and other nearby roads.
The Lyari residents, carrying ply cards and banners, called for end to the ongoing operation which has been ordered by President Zardari, adding to the miseries of thousands of people confined in the criminal hub due to exchange of fire between gangsters and police parties.

S.Arabia: Osama bin Laden's family let in on humanitarian grounds

JEDDAH: Saudi Arabia has allowed the family of al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden into the kingdom on humanitarian grounds, state media reported on Saturday, almost a year after U.S. special forces killed the world's most wanted man in Pakistan.

Pakistan deported the family this week, ending months of speculation about the fate of his wives and children who were detained by Pakistani security forces after the May 2 raid.

A Saudi official was quoted by the state Saudi Press Agency (SPA) as saying the family arrived in the kingdom on Thursday.

"Travel arrangements of Osama bin Laden's family were facilitated based on the request of Bin Laden's family in Saudi Arabia," the official said.

"Saudi Arabia dealt with the matter on a humanitarian, legal and administrative basis," said the report.

A Pakistani court sentenced the women to 45 days in prison this month for entering Pakistan illegally and ordered their deportation after the end of the prison term, which began on March 3 when they were formally arrested.

The Saudi report did not say how many family members had arrived in Jeddah but previous reports suggested that three widows, seven children and four grandchildren had been deported.

Their movements are followed closely by security officials because once outside Pakistan, they could shed some light on how the al Qaeda leader managed to hide inside Pakistan for so long.

SPA quoted the Saudi official as syaing however that "it was not appropriate to intrude on the privacy of the bin Laden family in the kingdom in any way". AGENCIES

Motorcycling-Lorenzo grabs pole for Spanish MotoGP

JEREZ: Spaniard Jorge Lorenzo survived some treacherous damp conditions to beat compatriot Dani Pedrosa into pole position with a thrilling final lap in qualifying for the Spanish MotoGP.

The 2010 champion Lorenzo, on a Yamaha, won from pole position at the season-opener in Qatar, and was fastest again in Jerez with a time of 1:39.532 on a circuit where he has triumphed for the last two years.

Repsol Honda's Pedrosa had been quickest in the rain-interrupted practice sessions, but was beaten into second by 0.135 seconds, as Lorenzo made the most of the drying track.

American Nicky Hayden completed the front row on a Ducati, with Britain's Cal Crutchlow, world champion Casey Stoner and American Ben Spies behind them on the grid.

"We are very happy with this pole position because it was a strange session," Lorenzo told www.motogp.com.

"There were a lot of water patches and it was very dangerous. You had to pay a lot of attention, it would have been easy to crash and get injured.

"Thank you to the team for working hard to keep giving the right set up in changing conditions."

Despite missing out on pole, Pedrosa was pleased to make the front row of the grid in Jerez for the sixth year in a row.

"It was very difficult to know how much to push because there were some wet spots and it was easy to make mistakes," he said in a team statement.

"Also, after so many laps with wet tyres in the free practices, when you put on the slicks it's like another bike but you have no time to waste to find a good lap time. So I'm quite impressed with the time and very happy to be on the front row."

FALLING OFF

Stoner was not as pleased as his Repsol Honda team mate.

"Qualifying didn't go so well," the Australian said. "Conditions have been terrible all weekend, from half dry tracks to fully wet so we haven't really been able to get any form of set up on the bike.

"We had hoped to be on the front row but with conditions like this I wasn't really willing to push. There were a lot of people falling off and the wet patches that were there were incredibly slippery.

"We're not really sure what to expect until we see the weather tomorrow and this makes things pretty difficult".

Spaniard Marc Marquez took pole in Moto2 and Alex Rins made it a Spanish 1-2-3 by grabbing pole in Moto3 in only his second world championship start. AGENCIES

PML-N losing its popularity: Gilani

Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani on Saturday said that PPP's success in Multan’s by-elections was proof that PML-N was losing its popularity, a private TV channel reported.
Speaking to a lawyers’ delegation at Governor House Punjab, the PM said Nawaz Sharif was disappointed with his party’s lost popularity.
The prime minister said rhetorically: “We have restored the constitution, how can we violate it...we will always comply with the constitution”.
Gilani said he did not write to Swiss authorities because the constitution granted immunity to the president.
The lawyers vowed their support for rule of law, democracy and an independent judiciary.

Rental power case: NAB recovers Rs 825mn

 ISLAMABAD: National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman Admiral retired Fasih Bokhari has said that Rs 825 million have been recovered from the owners of Rental Power Plants (RPPs) in response to notices issued by the NAB following the Supreme Court orders.
He said that procedure of plea-bargain can be used for the recovery of the money.
According to media reports, NAB had given 48-hour ultimatum to rental power companies to return the money. In response to the deadline three companies submitted pay orders of Rs 600 million by Friday while another company submitted a cheque of Rs 225 million.
According to NAB authorities, most of the companies had agreed to return the money voluntarily and to keep 25 percent of the shares with them.
Meanwhile, Federal Minister for Information and Technology Raja Pervez Ashraf appeared before NAB probe team. He was quizzed over RPPs agreements for three hours.

Mehran Bank scandal: Rehman submits evidence against Sharifs

ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Rehman Malik Saturday presented evidence of Sharif brothers’ role in Mehran Bank scam case with media.
Speaking to newsmen in the federal capital, Malik said if his evidence was proved false, he was ready to be hanged.Malik said he would take this evidence to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and the Parliament.
The Interior Minister said he has all the evidence about those who accepted money in the bank scam.
He alleged Nawaz Sharif, after taking the money, invested it in his sugar mill on the same day.
The first NRO was made by Nawaz Sharif together with Farooq Leghari while the second NRO was created with Musharraf.
He argued that PML-N ministers had also taken oath under the NRO. He accused Nawaz Sharif of committing a fraud of Rs6 billion with banks

SHO among six killed in tense Lyari

KARACHI: At least six people, including a Station House Officer (SHO) of Kalakot Police Civil Line, Lyari, Fawad Khan, has been killed in a hand grenade attack, SAMAA reported on Saturday.
According to the police, two policemen also received injuries in the attack.
Earlier, three people were killed in troubled area of Lyari, a gang war suspect among them, during police operation against criminal elements.
Two-day long exchange of criminals and police confined residents of Lyari inside their home in a ‘stronghold’ of ruling PPP where police commandos entered for a decisive crackdown ordered by President Asif Ali Zardari to purge the area of such elements ahead of general polls.
During Saturday’s action three people were killed, among them a suspected gangster Sohail.
Unidentified men hurled hand grenades and fired rockets on police mobiles, resorting to aerial firing in streets of Lyari.
Claiming recovery of heavy arms and ammunition, Senior Superintendent Police (SSP) CID Chaudhry Aslam says the operation would be over in couple of days.

Malik alleges Nawaz involved in money laundering

ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Rehman Malik on Saturday alleged that PML-N Chief and former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was involved in money laundering.
Addressing news conference here‚ he said proofs against Nawaz Sharif would be placed before the Supreme Court and National Accountability Bureau NAB. Minister said a commission may be formed to investigate alleged involvement of Nawaz Sharif in money laundering.
He further alleged that Nawaz Sharif made NRO with former President late Farooq Ahmed Leghari and resultantly Benazir Bhutto's elected government was unconstitutionally dismissed in November 1996.
Malik alleged that Nawaz Sharif was defaulter of Rs6 billion and made NRO with Farooq Laghari when investigation was initiated in this regard. He asked PML-N chief to tell from where did he get $32 million dollar.
Rehman Malik also alleged that Nawaz Sharif made the second NRO with dictator Pervez Musharraf and went abroad after signing an agreement and violated Charter of Democracy COD he signed with Benazir Bhutto in year 2006.
He said he would bring evidences against Nawaz in the parliament as well.

Govt to challenge Supreme Court verdict: Firdous

ISLAMABAD - Central leader of the Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) and former Information Minister Firdous Ashiq Awan on Thursday vowed to challenge the Supreme Court decision to convict Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani in contempt of court case.
“The Pakistan Peoples’ Party has been a victim of judicial exploitation."
“We will appeal against the court decision to seek justice. How can Gilani be disqualified when he was elected by the people of the country,” Firdous Awan told to media persons after the Supreme Court verdict.

Imran demands PM Gilani’s resignation

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan on Thursday said that Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani should immediately resign from his position after being convicted by the Supreme Court (SC).
“After SC judgement PM has lost whatever shred of legal & moral authority he had. He must resign immed & ECP must notify his 5 year disqual,” Imran Khan wrote on Twitter.
Imran also wrote that the PTI will always stand by the law and SC. He said that his party will not accept any political defiance and ridicule of SC’s decisions.
The PTI leader also said the rule of law and independence of judiciary must be upheld.

ISLAMABAD - The day of judgement is here – a seven-member Supreme Court bench will today (Thursday) decide the fate of Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani for willfully defying its order by not writing a letter to the Swiss authorities for reopening graft cases against his party’s co-chairman, President Asif Ali Zardari.

Gilani on Wednesday told his cabinet he would appear before the court for a third time and head to the court premises “on foot” to exhibit his respect for the apex court.
Meanwhile, in an unpleasant surprise for the defiant PM, his son Ali Musa Gilani, a nominee in the Ephedrine quota scam, was summoned by the Anti-Narcotics Force for recording his statement at almost the same time Gilani is scheduled to appear in SC.
Gilani’s Principal Secretary Khushnood Akhtar Lashari, also named in the Rs 7 billion drug scam, has been directed to appear before ANF on Friday (tomorrow).
The court’s decision cannot be anticipated until it is announced. However, the most likely scenario is that Gilani will have to pay for not implementing the court order. And, he is willing to face the consequences – six months imprisonment and a constitutional bar from holding any public office for five years.
Having achieved the distinction of becoming the longest-serving chief executive of the country, Gilani has publicly made it clear that he would accept going to jail suggesting that he would neither bow before the court nor would he take the blame for being disloyal to his party.
There are apparently two scenarios – conviction or acquittal.
In case of his conviction, the prime minister will be morally bound to immediately step down but this is unlikely as his counsel Barrister Aitzaz Ahsan has said Gilani would still be the chief executive even in jail.
Experts are of the view that there is a possibility that the seven-member bench may convict Gilani and sentence him until the rising of the court instead of sending him to jail for six months.
But even if his sentence ends with the rising of the case, they say, he would be considered a convict and thus disqualified to hold any public office. It, however, remains to be seen whether his legal team decides to seek a review of the seven-member bench’s decision. If they opt for this, the case may be dragged for some more weeks.
But the matter will not end with Gilani’s conviction. Legal experts say the conviction will ensue long-drawn legal procedure to unseat the prime minister, as after his conviction a question has to be raised in the National Assembly that he has become disqualified to be a member of the House.
The National Assembly speaker is bound to send a reference to the Election Commission within 30 days and the Election Commission, under the law, may take ninety days to announce its decision. In case of an adverse decision, Gilani will still have a chance to appeal against the decision of the Election Commission in the Supreme Court.
Following the cabinet meeting earlier in the day, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Qamar Zaman Kaira told reporters that the federal cabinet expressed solidarity with the prime minister and decided to accompany him to the court premises.
Kaira said the PM informed the cabinet that he would not accept any privilege while appearing before the SC in the contempt of court case and would go to the court on foot.
“The leaders and ministers from the coalition partners would also accompany the PM. We expect justice from the court and hope for justice,” he said.
Kaira said the president enjoyed immunity under local and international laws and writing a letter to Swiss authorities would be tantamount to surrendering immunity.
Asked if the government would implement the court’s verdict, the minister said the government’s legal and political teams would take a decision in line with the constitution and law of land.
“The prime minister has no ego problem and he is ready to appear before the court for a third time. He would appear before the court like an ordinary citizen,” he added.
In a late night development, the PPP leadership directed all its provincial and National Assembly members to reach Islamabad on Thursday to accompany the PM to the SC hearing.
A meeting of heads of all coalition parties in the government was also held to discuss the post-verdict scenario.

خواب ہر کوئی دیکھتا ہے مگر آنکھ کھلنے کے بعد اکثر لوگ اپنےخواب بھول جاتے ہیں۔ خواب ہماری روزمرہ زندگی میں پیش آنے والے واقعات، خواہشات اور جذبات سے تشکیل پاتے ہیں ، لیکن ان میں شعوری ربط نہ ہونے کی وجہ سے وہ ہمیں حقیقی زندگی سے مختلف دکھائی دیتے ہیں۔

زیادہ دور پرے کی بات نہیں ہے کہ اکثر اخباروں اور رسالوں میں ایسے مستقل کالم اور صفحات شائع ہوتے تھے جن میں خوابوں کی تعبیر بتائی جاتی تھی۔ اکثر گھروں میں، اور اکثر پرتکلف محفلوں میں اپنے خواب سنانے کا رواج عام تھا  مگر اب ایسا کم کم ہوتا ہے۔ لیکن اس کا مطلب یہ نہیں ہے کہ لوگوں نے خواب دیکھنے چھوڑ دیے ہیں، بلکہ یہ ہے کہ جدید دور کی مصروفیات میں ان کے پاس اپنے خواب سنانے کا وقت نہیں رہا۔ماہرین کا کہناہے کہ خواب ہر کوئی دیکھتا ہے، خواہ وہ نوزائیدہ بچہ ہو یاسوسال سے بھی بڑی عمر کا بزرگ۔  ایک اندازے کے مطابق انسان اپنی نیند کے دوران تقریباً ہر ڈیڑھ گھنٹے کے بعد خواب دیکھتا ہے اور نارمل نیند  میں چار سے سات خواب آتے ہیں۔
کسی بھی سوئے ہوئے شخص کے پاس کچھ دیر بیٹھ کر آپ یہ جان سکتے ہیں کہ اس نے کب کب خواب دیکھا۔ کیونکہ خواب دیکھتے وقت آنکھوں کی پتلیاں  تیزی سے حرکت کرتی ہیں۔ عموماً  یہ عمل چند منٹ تک جاری رہتا ہے، لیکن بعض صورتوں میں اس کا دورانیہ 45 منٹ تک بھی ہوسکتا ہے۔ ماہرین کا کہناہے کہ  خواب دیکھتے وقت انسان کے دماغ کا ایک حصہ ، جس کا تعلق ہمارے تحت الاشعور سے ہے، انتہائی فعال ہوجاتا ہے ۔ جس  میں آنکھوں کی پتلیاں حرکت کرنے لگتی ہیں۔  یہ نیند کی کمزور حالت کہلاتی ہے۔ گہری نیند میں انسان کوئی خواب نہیں دیکھتا۔

خواب ہر کوئی دیکھتا ہے مگر بہت کم لوگ ایسے ہیں جنہیں جاگنے کے بعد اپنے خواب یاد رہتے ہیں۔ خواب صرف وہی یاد رہتے ہیں ، جنہیں دیکھنے کے دوران آنکھ کھل جائے۔ نفسیات کے ماہرین کا کہناہے کہ جاگنے کے پہلے پانچ منٹ کے اندر انسان آدھے سے زیادہ خواب بھول جاتا ہے، جب کہ  اگلے پانچ منٹ میں  وہ 90 فی صد خواب اس کی یاداشت سے نکل جاتے ہیں۔نابینا افراد بھی عام انسانوں کی طرح ہر رات خواب دیکھتے ہیں، مگر ان کے خواب دوسرے لوگوں سے قدرے مختلف ہوتے ہیں۔ جو افراد پیدائشی نابینا نہیں ہوتے، ان کے خواب بہت حد تک عام لوگوں جیسے ہوتے ہیں جب کہ پیدائشی نابینا افراد اپنے خوابوں میں شکلیں نہیں دیکھتے ، لیکن ان کے خوابوں میں آوازیں، چیزوں کو چھو کر محسوس کرنے ، جذبات اور محسوسات دوسروں کی نسبت زیادہ مضبوط ہوتے ہیں۔خواب صرف انسان ہی نہیں بلکہ تقریباً ہر زی روح دیکھتا ہے۔ اگر آپ کے گھر میں بلی، کتا یا کوئی اور پالتو جانور موجود ہے تو آپ سوتے میں اس کی آنکھوں کی پتلیوں کی حرکت سے یہ جان سکتے ہیں کہ وہ اس وقت خواب دیکھ رہاہے۔کئی لوگ یہ دعویٰ کرتے ہیں کہ انہوں نے کبھی کوئی خواب نہیں دیکھا۔ ماہرین کا کہناہے کہ اس دعوے کی حقیقت یہ ہے کہ بیدار ہونے پر وہ اپنے خواب بھول چکے ہوتے ہیں۔

کئی لوگ یہ کہتے ہیں ہیں انہیں  اپنے خوابوں میں عجیب و غریب شکلیں اور چہرے دکھائی دیتے ہیں۔ جب کہ نفسیات کے ماہرین اس سے اتفاق نہیں کرتے۔ ان کا کہنا ہے کہ انسان خواب میں صرف وہی  چہرے دیکھتا ہے جسے وہ  اپنی زندگی میں کہیں نہ کہیں  اپنی کھلی آنکھوں سے دیکھ چکاہوتا ہے۔ ہم روزانہ بہت سے افراد کو دیکھتے ہیں۔ عمر بڑھنے کے ساتھ  ہماری نظروں میں آنے والے چہروں کی تعداد ہزاروں بلکہ لاکھوں تک پہنچ جاتی ہے۔ ہم ان میں سے زیادہ تر کو نہیں جانتے  مگر وہ شکلیں ہمارے تحت الا شعور میں محفوظ ہوجاتی ہیں۔  چونکہ خواب دیکھنے کے عمل میں ہمارا شعور کام نہیں کررہا ہوتا اس لیے تحت الاشعور میں محفوظ شکلیں گڈمڈ ہوکر  بعض اوقات عجیب صورت اختیار کرلیتی ہیں  اور وہ ہمیں عام انسانوں سے مختلف نظر آتی ہیں۔ہماری آنکھیں روزانہ لاکھوں ہزاروں رنگوں کا نظارہ کرتی ہیں ، مگر دلچسپ بات یہ ہے کہ ہمارے زیادہ تر خواب سفید و سیاہ یعنی بلیک اینڈ وائٹ ہوتے ہیں۔ لیکن ایک حالیہ مطالعاتی رپورٹ سے ظاہر ہوا ہے کہ خوابوں میں رنگ دیکھنے والے افراد کی تعداد بڑھ رہی ہے۔ ماہرین کا کہناہے کہ غالباً اس کی وجہ یہ ہے کہ اب ہمارا زیادہ تر وقت کلر ٹیلی ویژن کے سامنے گذرتا ہے ۔ اس کے رنگ اور کردار ہمارے شعور میں جذب ہوکر ہمارے خوابوں میں ظاہر ہورہے ہیں۔
کچھ لوگ یہ دعویٰ کرتے ہیں کہ انہیں اپنے خوابوں میں غیب سے اشارےملتے ہیں۔ کچھ لوگ یہ بھی کہتے ہیں کہ وہ سچے خواب دیکھتے ہیں۔ ایک مطالعاتی جائزے کے مطابق  کم ازکم 18 فی صد لوگ زندگی میں کم ازکم ایک سچا خواب ضرور  دیکھتے ہیں، جب کہ   مختلف علاقوں اور کمیونیٹز کے لحاظ سے 63 سے 98 فی صد لوگ سچے خوابوں پر یقین رکھتے ہیں۔ دوسری جانب سائنس دانوں  کا کہنا ہے کہ خواب سچے ہونے کا امکان اتنا ہی ہے جتنا کہ بعض لوگ روزمرہ زندگی میں کچھ چیزوں کا قبل ازوقت درست اندازہ لگالیتے ہیں۔

بعض لوگ اپنے خوابوں میں خود کو فضاؤں میں  پرندوں کی طرح اڑتا ہوادیکھتے ہیں۔ بعض  افراد خود کو روح کی طرح ہلکا پھلکا اور لمحوں میں ایک جگہ سے دوسری جگہ آتا جاتا دیکھتے ہیں۔ ماہرین کا کہناہے کہ  ایسا اس لیے ہوتا ہے کہ خواب دیکھنے کے عمل میں شعور ہمارے ساتھ نہیں ہوتا، اور خوابوں کو تحت الشعور میں موجود ہماری خواہشیں اور آرزوئیں کنٹرول کررہی ہوتی ہیں۔خواب دیکھنے کے دوران انسان  کی نیند گہری نہیں ہوتی ، اس لیے  بسا اوقات اردگرد کی آوازیں بھی خواب کا حصہ بن جاتی ہیں۔مثال کے طورپر اگر کوئی شخص گاڑی میں  سفر کے دوران یہ خواب دیکھ رہا ہو کہ وہ اپنے دوستوں کے ساتھ خوش گپیوں میں مصروف ہے تو خواب کے  دوران کئی ایسے  لمحات آسکتے ہیں جس میں وہ یہ محسوس کرے کہ وہ گاڑی یا کسی اور سواری میں دوستوں کے پاس آجارہاہے یا اردگرد کی آوازوں سے منسلک اشکال اس کے خواب کا حصہ بن رہی ہیں۔اور سب سے دلچسپ بات یہ ہے کہ خراٹے لینے والے نہ صرف یہ کہ دوسروں کی نیند خراب کرتے ہیں بلکہ جب تک وہ خراٹے  لیتے رہتے ہیں، خود بھی کوئی خواب نہیں دیکھ سکتے۔بند آنکھوں کے خواب عموماً خواب ہی رہتے ہیں جب کہ جاگتی آنکھوں کے خوابوں کو انسان  کوششوں سے حقیقت بنا سکتا ہے۔

Pakistan successfully test-fires nuclear capable Hatf IV

RAWALPINDI: Pakistan has successfully test-fired long-range Hatf IV (Shaheen 1A) ballistic missile, Geo News reported Wednesday.
According to Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), Pakistan successfully conducted the launch of the intermediate Range Ballistic Missile Hatf IV Shaheen-1A Weapon System. The missile is an improved version of Shaheen-1 with improvements in range and technical parameters. It is capable of carrying nuclear and conventional warheads.
Today’s launch, whose impact point was at sea, was witnessed by Director General Strategic Plans Division Lieutenant General Khalid Ahmed Kidwai (R), Chairman NESCOM Muhammad Irfan Burney, Commander Army Strategic Force Command Lieutenant General Tariq Nadeem Gilani and other senior military officers, scientists and engineers.
DG SPD Lieutenant General Khalid Ahmed Kidwai (R) congratulated all scientists and engineers on the successful launch, and the accuracy of the missile in reaching the target. He said that the improved version of Shaheen 1A will further consolidate and strengthen Pakistan’s deterrence abilities. He appreciated the efforts of all personnel for their dedication and professionalism.
Pakistan has tested the long-range missile just a week after India test fired its first Inter-continental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) Agni V on April 18.
India’s indigenously built Agni-V has a range of more than 5,000 kilometers (3,100 miles) and is capable of carrying nuclear warhead.

US woman wins $1 million, twice in same lottery

BERRYVILLE, Virginia: A Virginia woman found out on April 7 she won $1 million in a lottery drawing. And then she won again.

Virginia Fike of Berryville, Virginia, had the good luck to buy not one but two lottery tickets from a truck stop that both turned out to be $1 million winners, matching five of the six Powerball numbers. Lottery officials presented her with a $2 million check on Friday.

Fike said she found out that she had won - and won again - while sitting in a hospital room with her mother, according to a statement distributed by the Virginia lottery.

"I saw a scroll on TV about there being two $1 million winners," she said. "I looked at my mom and said ‘Wouldn't it be funny if it was us?'"

She said she planned on using the money to "take care of my parents" and pay bills.

For selling the tickets, the lottery awarded a $20,000 bonus to the Olde Stone Truck Stop.

To win the full Powerball jackpot, which currently stands at $131 million, a ticket must match the numbers on all five white balls in the drawing, plus the red Powerball. The $1 million cash prize is awarded for a ticket that matches the five numbers on the white balls, in any order.

The odds of winning $1 million? One in 5,153,632.65. The drawing takes place every Wednesday and Saturday night.

اسلام آباد : وزیر مذہبی امور خورشید شاہ کا کہنا ہے رواں برس حج کیلئے قرعہ اندازی نہیں ہوگی اور درخواستیں پہلے آیئے پہلے پایئے کی بنیاد پر وصول کی جائیں گی۔ قائمہ کمیٹی برائے مذہبی امور کے اجلاس میں وفاقی وزیر خورشید شاہ کا کہنا تھا کہ سرکاری اسکیم کے تحت رواں برس نوے ہزار عازمین حج پر جائیں گے۔ ایم ڈی پی آئی اے ندیم یوسف زئی کا کہنا تھا کہ کوشش کی جائے گی کہ کرایوں میں کم سے کم اضافہ ہو۔۔ تاخیر سے آنے والے حجاج کے لئے اضافی پروازیں چلائی جائیں گی۔

اسلام آباد: وفاقی کابینہ نے حج پالیسی 2012 کی منظوری دے دی۔ 1 لاکھ، 79 ہزار پاکستانی فریضہ حج ادا کریں گے۔ وفاقی وزیر مذہبی امور، سید خورشید شاہ نے میڈیا بریفنگ میں بتایا کہ نئی پالیسی تین سال کیلئے ہوگی۔ قرعہ اندازی کا طریقہ ختم کر دیا ہے۔ پچاس فیصد حجاج سرکاری اور پچاس فیصد نجی حج آپریٹرز کے ذریعے فریضہ حج ادا کریں گے۔ حج درخواستیں پہلے آئیے پہلے پائیے کی بنیاد پر وصول کی جائیں گی۔ 10 سے 25 افراد گروپ کی صورت میں بھی درخواست دے سکتے ہیں۔انہوں نے کہا کہ حج پالیسی میں سعودی حکومت کی تعلیمات پر عمل کرنا پڑتا ہے، گزشتہ 5 سال میں حج کرنے والے افراد حج کرنے کے اہل نہیں ہوں گے۔ سرکاری اسکیم کےتحت درخواستیں شیڈول بینکوں سے لی جائیں گی۔ خورشید شاہ کا کہنا تھا کہ حجاج کی رہائش کیلئے تین کیٹیگریز ہوں گی۔ چار ایئرلائنز کو حج آپریشن کی اجازت ہوگی۔ انشورنس کی مد میں حاجیوں سے 2 ہزار کی جگہ 400روپے لئے جائیں گے۔

Pakistani stocks end on fresh 4-yr high, rupee firms

    Pakistani stocks ended on a fresh four year high on Tuesday as investors bought bank sector shares following strong corporate profits for the Jan-March quarter, dealers said.

The Karachi Stock Exchange (KSE) benchmark 100-share index closed 0.35 percent, or 49.75 points, higher at 14,132.59, the highest close since May 2008.

"Pakistan stocks closed bullish led by banking stocks on strong quarter-end earning announcements at KSE," said Ahsan Mehanti, director at Arif Habib Corp.

Volume rose to 297.16 million shares, compared with 213.34 million shares traded on Monday.

MCB Bank announced a net profit of 5.6 billion rupees ($61.63 million) in the quarter ended March 30, compared with a net profit of 5 billion rupees in the same period last year.

It also announced a cash dividend of 3 rupees per share and ended 1.11 percent higher at 176.21 rupees.

Pakistan Petroleum Ltd, Hub Power Co Ltd and Pakistan Telecommunication Co Ltd are due to announce it results on Wednesday's.

The rupee ended slightly firmer at 90.87/90 to the dollar, compared with Monday's close of 90.90/96 amid a lack of import payments.

The rupee has been supported by remittances, which rose 21.45 percent to $9.73 billion in the first nine months of the 2011/12 fiscal year, compared with $8.02 billion in the same period last year.

In March, remittances totaled $1.14 billion.

In its monetary policy statement this month, the State Bank of Pakistan said the external sector was likely to remain under pressure because of both external debt payments and a lack of foreign aid.

Pakistan's current account deficit widened to a provisional $3.089 billion in the first nine months of the 2011/12 fiscal year, compared with $10 million over the same period in the previous year, the central bank said on Wednesday.

Overnight rates in the money market ended flat at 11.90 percent, unchanged from the previous day's close amid tight liquidity in the interbank market.

شہبازشریف کاوزیراعظم گیلانی سے رابطہ، توانائی کانفرنس کے فیصلوں پرعمل نہ ہونےکا گلہ

لاہورریلوے اسٹیشن کے قریب دھماکا،3افرادجاں بحق

لاہور: لاہورمیں ریلوے اسٹیشن پر بم دھماکے کے نتیجے میں تین افراد جاں بحق جبکہ پچیس سے زائد زخمی ہوگئے۔ دھماکے کے بعد ٹرینوں کی آمد روفت روک دی گئی۔دھماکہ چھ بجکر چالیس منٹ پر پلیٹ فارم نمبر دو پر بزنس ٹرین کے کاؤنٹر کے قریب ہوا۔ دھماکے کے وقت ویٹنگ روم میں سو کے قریب افراد موجود تھے۔ ابتدائی اطلاعات کے مطابق دھماکے کے نتیجے میں جاں بحق ہونے والے تین افراد میں ایک قلی اورريلوے کانسٹيبل بھی شامل ہے۔ زخمیوں کو میو اسپتال، گنگا رام اور سروسز اسپتال منتقلکر ديا گيا ہے جن میں خواتین اور بچے بھی شامل ہیں۔پولیس ذرائع  کے مطابق دہشتگردی کی اس واردات میں آٹھ سے دس کلو گرام دھماکہ خیز مواد استعمال کی

پاکستان میں حالیہ فضائی حادثے کے بعد بظاہر ہوائی جہاز کے ذریعے سفر کرنے والے مسافر قدرے خوفزدہ ہیں اور ملک میں نجی شعبے کے اشتراک سے چلنے والی ایک ریل سروس کے عہدیداروں کا کہنا ہے کہ ان کی ’بزنس ایکسپریس ٹرین‘ کے ذریعے سفر کرنے والوں کی تعداد میں اضافہ ہوا ہے۔
پاکستان ریلوے کو درپیش شدید مالی اور انتطامی مسائل  کے تناظر میں حکومت حال ہی میں کراچی اور لاہور کے درمیان نجی شعبے کی شراکت سے ایک بزنس ایکسپرس ٹرین چلانے کی منظوری دی، جس کا کرایہ تو نسبتاً زیادہ ہے لیکن مسافروں کو ریلوے اسٹیشن پر اور دوران سفر ائیر لائن کی طرز پر سہولتیں فراہم کی جا رہی ہیں۔
بزنس ایکسپریس ٹرین کے سربراہ ظفر اقبال چوہدری کا کہنا ہے کہ حالیہ دنوں میں یکے بعد دیگرے  پیش آنے والے فضائی حادثات کے بعد لاہور اور کراچی کے درمیان فضائی سفر کو ترجیح دینے والے مسافر قدرے خوفزدہ ہیں اور وہ  ہوائی جہاز کے بجائے ریل گاڑی کے سفر کو محفوظ تصور کر رہے ہیں انھوں نے وائس آف امریکہ سے گفتگو میں بتایا کہ حادثات کے بعد بزنس ٹرین سے سفر کرنے والے مسافروں کی تعداد میں اضافہ ہوا ہے’’اس ریل گاڑی پر سفر کرنے والوں کی تعداد میں بہتری آئی ہے، اس کی یہی وجہ ہے کہ لوگ ابھی بھی ریلوے کے سفر کو محفوظ سفر تصور کرتے ہیں۔‘‘
نجی شعبے کے زیرانتظام چلنے والی پہلی بزنس ٹرین سے پاکستان ریلوے کو ماہانہ 9 کروڑ روپے کی آمدن ہوتی ہے جو مالی مشکلات سے دوچار پاکستان ریلوے کے مسائل کے حل میں قدرے معاون ہے۔
لاہور اور کراچی سے برنس ایکپریس ٹرین روزانہ سہ پہر ساڑھے تین  بجے روانہ ہوتی ہے۔ ظفر اقبال چوہدری نے بتایا کہ 9 بوگیوں پر مشتمل ٹرین میں زیادہ سے زیادہ 485 مسافروں کے سفر کرنے کی گنجائش ہے۔ ’’ٹرین کے روزانہ ساٹھ سے ستر فیصد ٹکٹ فروخت ہو رہے ہیں۔‘‘
جمعہ کو کراچی سے اسلام آباد آنے والا نجی ائیر لائن کا طیارہ  لینڈنگ سے کچھ دیر قبل ہوائی اڈے کے نزدیک گر کر تباہ ہو گیا جس سے اس میں سوار تمام 127 افراد ہلاک ہوئے جبکہ اس کے دو دن بعد کراچی ائیر پورٹ پر لینڈنگ کے دوران ایک طیارے کا ٹائر پھٹ گیا اور اس کے چند گھنٹوں بعد لاہور کے ہوائی اڈے پر مشہد جانے والے طیارے سے ایندھن کے اخراج کے بعد اس میں آگ بھڑک اٹھنے کا واقعہ بھی پیش آیا تھا۔
یہ تینوں طیارے نجی ائیر لائنز کے تھے جس کے بعد سول ایوی ایشن اتھارٹی نے ہوائی سفر محفوظ بنانے اور مسافروں کا اعتماد بحال کرنے کے لیے طیاروں کی جانچ پڑتال کا عمل شروع کر رکھا ہے۔

Asian Sprint Queen Naseem announces retirement

Former Pakistani athlete and Asian sprint queen Naseem Hameed has announced her retirement from athlete.

Naseem Hameed, 24, said that persisting injury kept her away from national and international events which cause to her retirement.

The Asian sprint queen said that she was setting up an academy in Korangi, Karachi, where she would herself train athletes.

Hameed begged a gold medal in 100-meter race in SAF Games 2010 were held in Bangladesh. After begging the medal, Hameed got the title of 'Asian Sprint Queen' and appreciation. 

PM for solving issues with India by talks

 Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani on has stressed solving all issues with India, including that of withdrawal of troops from Siachen and the Kashmir dispute, through dialogue.

“I strongly believe that better sense will prevail on both sides and we will resolve these issues through dialogue,” he said this while addressing National Book Day conference in Islamabad.

The PM credited himself with taking  initiatives to normalise relations with India.

PM Gilani said it was agreed in his meetings with his Indian counterpart Manmohan Singh that issues, including Kashmir, Sir Creek, Siachen, water disputes and terrorism, could be resolved through political will.

Bangladesh tour delay disappointing - Whatmore

Dav Whatmore, the Pakistan coach, has said he is 'disappointed' with the postponement of Bangladesh's proposed tour of Pakistan following a court stay order. Whatmore also said that he had not faced any security issues during his two-month stay in Pakistan.

Bangladesh had agreed to visit Pakistan in the last week of this month for an ODI and a T20I, both scheduled to be played in Lahore, but the tour was delayed on April 19 with a Dhaka court ordering a four-week embargo over security concerns.

'It is a bit disappointing,' Whatmore said. 'We were planning to quickly get started with training, but all that has been knocked on the head with Bangladesh not coming.'

Whatmore, who was born in Sri Lanka and immigrated early to Australia, coached the country of his birth to their famous 1996 World Cup triumph. 'From my personal point of view, I've lived in Sri Lanka, I was born in Sri Lanka, I lived through civil war there towards the end of that problem, and I am now staying in Lahore for the last two months and move around quite freely. I really don't have any problems with security.'

Whatmore said the Pakistani people were starved of international cricket, which was difficult for them given the following and history of the game in the country. 'It must be really hard for the people here, but do they [the rest of the world] really know how hard it is? You need to come and witness it to really know how difficult it is for a nation that has a rich history in international cricket to keep the game going without having the ability to host overseas teams.'

For Pakistan, the Bangladesh tour is more a closed chapter for the moment and the series could be scrapped from the ICC Future Tours Programme as Pakistan is unlikely to host Bangladesh at an offshore venue. The PCB is, however, focussing on launching its own lucrative Twenty20 league, and is hoping to have overseas players in it - another tactic to revive international cricket in the country. Whatmore welcomed the idea and was hopeful of its success.

'Once it is known to people in the world that the PCB is planning to do this, I'm sure there will be a lot of international cricketers looking at their schedules and see that they are available in this short period of time to come and play here. I am very hopeful that there will be some very good international cricketers coming and enjoying playing in it.'

With the possibility that the Bangladesh tour might not happen, Pakistan face a spare period ahead of their away series in Sri Lanka towards the end of May. Whatmore said he would ensure the players avoided getting complacent and rusty during that time.

The PCB has recently asked its centrally-contracted players to undergo a fitness test, before they are considered for a new contract. 'The fitness test was designed to give everyone an idea of where they are now and after a prescription of work to re-test and see the improvement,' Whatmore said.

بھارت: شمسی توانائی کا بڑھتا ہوا استعمال

ریاست راجھستان میں ایک کمپنی کی جانب سے لگائے گئے سولر پینلوں سے پانچ میگا واٹ بجلی پیدا ہو رہی ہے جو سینکڑوں گھروں کو روشن کرنے کے لیے کافی ہے

شمسی توانائی کے استعمال میں ڈرامائی اضافہ کرنے کے منصوبے کے  آغاز کے دو سال بعد، بھارت میں اب اس توانائی نے گھروں اور فیکٹریوں کو بجلی کی فراہمی شروع کر دی ہے۔  شمسی توانائی پر آنے والا کم خرچ، تیل سے حاصل ہونے والی توانائی کا  ایک قابلِ عمل متبادل ہے۔جنوبی ریاست راجھستان کے ضلع ناگور میں ایک کمپنی کی جانب سے لگائے گئے چمکتے ہو ئے سولر پینلوں سے پانچ میگا واٹ بجلی پیدا ہو رہی ہے۔ یہ پلانٹ سرکاری نگرانی میں چل رہا ہے جہاں سے سینکڑوں گاؤں میں گھروں کو بجلی فراہم ہو رہی ہے۔اس منصوبے کو چلانے والی کمپنی کے سربراہ ، اِندرپریت ودھاوا  کا کہنا ہے کہ  یہاں سے35 میگا واٹ بجلی پیدا کی جائے گی۔جیسے جیسے کاروباری حضرات اور سرمایہ کار  شمسی توانائی   میں منافع کو دیکھ رہے ہیں ، اس جیسے شمسی سٹیشن اب بہت سی دیگر ریاستوں میں بھی لگائے جارہے ہیں۔ ودھاوا کا کہنا ہے کہ  شمسی توانائی کے متعلق ان کے نظریات تبدیل ہوتے جا رہے ہیں۔  ودھاوا کہتے ہیں کہ ، ’اب اچانک لوگ کہنا شروع ہو گئے ہیں ،کہ ارے ، یہ نہ تو  کوئی تجرباتی  منصوبہ ہے نہ ہی سائینسی۔  یہ تو واقعی یہاں آ گیا ہے اور  توانائی کے دیگر ذرائع کے سے مقابلہ کر رہا ہے‘۔
دو سال پہلے تک بھارت شمسی توانائی پیدا نہیں کر رہا تھا، حالانکہ  اس ملک میں سال کے تین سو دن ایک چمکتی ہوئی دھوپ رہتی ہے۔ شمسی توانائی پیدا کرنے کے لئے مہنگے آلات کی وجہ  سے اس شعبے میں سرمایہ  کاری نہیں ہو رہی تھی۔
تاہم ، جب توانائی میں شدید کمی کا سامنا اور   کاربن گیسوں کے اخراج میں کمی کرنے کا دباؤ بڑھا ، تو سنہ 2010میں حکومت نے نیشنل سولر مشن نامی ایک منصوبے کا آغاز کیا۔  حکومت سنہ 2022تک بیس ہزار میگا واٹ بجلی فراہم کرنے کا ہدف  رکھتی ہے، اور کوئلے سے پیدا ہونے والی بجلی پر انحصار کم  کرنا چاہتی ہے، جن سے بھارت میں زیادہ تر بجلی پیدا ہوتی ہے۔
ٹوبیاس اینگل مائیر ،  برِج ٹو انڈیا نامی ایک تحقیقی اور مشاورتی فرم  کے سربراہ ہیں۔  ان کا کہنا ہے کہ گزشتہ سال،  بین الاقوامی سطح پر سولر پینلوں کی قیمتوں میں زبردست کمی کی وجہ سے یہ ہدف  اب حاصل ہوتا ہوا نظر آتا ہے۔ اینگل مائیر کے بقول،’ نیشنل سولر مشن کے پہلے سال میں، بین الاقوامی سرمایہ  کار اور کمپنیاں اس منصوبے کے بارے میں شکوک کا شکار تھیں۔  انہیں شبہ تھا کہ کیا بھارت  ایک  پنپتی ہوئی منافع بخش منڈی  فراہم کرے گا۔   لیکن  اب بین الاقوامی سطح پر  شمسی توانائی کے آلات میں تیس فیصد تک کمی کے بعد  ان  خیالات میں تبدیلی آ رہی ہے‘۔
ابھی تک تو شمسی توانائی کی قیمت ، کوئلے سے پیدا ہونے والی توانائی کے مقابلے میں دگنی ہے۔  لیکن یہ پہلے ہی ڈیزل سے پیدا ہونے والی بجلی کے مقابلے میں سستی ہو چکی ہے۔ ڈیزل سے پیدا ہونے والی بجلی کو بھارتی گھروں اور فیکٹریوں میں عام استعمال کیا جاتا ہے۔شمسی توانائی کے استعمال میں اضافہ بھارت اور دنیا دونوں کے لئے خوش آئند ہے۔  اس سے نہ صرف ملک میں توانائی کے شدید بحران کو روکنے میں مدد ملے گی بلکہ  عالمی سطح پر موجود سب سے بڑے مسئلے ، یعنی ماحولیاتی تبدیلی سے نمٹنے میں بھی مدد ملے گی۔

حکومت اس عملي مثال ميں غيرسرکاري کمپنيوں کي ايک بڑھتي ہوئي تعداد بھي شامل ہوتي جا رہي ہے۔

طیارہ حادثہ،بدقسمت طیارےکی ایئرہوسٹس صنم نے3ماہ پہلے یہ پیشہ اختیارکیاتھا

کراچی : حادثے کا شکار ہونے والے بھوجا ائير کے طيارے کی فضائی میزبان نے تين ماہ پہلے ہی یہ پیشہ اختيار کیا تھا، صنم شيخ کا تعلق کراچی سے تھا۔چاند چہرہ، نشيلی آنکھيں جن ميں زندگی کی چمک نماياں تھی، ہنستی مسکراتی بد قسمت جہاز کی ائيرہوسٹس صنم شيخ کراچی کےعلاقے ڈيفنس کی رہائشی تھیں۔ صنم کی والدہ کا انتقال دو سال پہلے ہوا تھا۔ پھر بڑی بہن بھی الله کو پياری ہوگئی۔بہن بھائيوں کا سہارا بننے کاعزم لئے صنم شيخ نے فضائی ميزبانی کا پيشہ اختيار کيا جس کا انہیں بچپن سے شوق بھی تھا ليکن الله کو کچھ اور ہی منظورتھا۔بہن تانیہ کا کہنا ہے کہ صنم اس کا بہت خیال رکھتی تھی۔ صنم کے اہل خانہ کہتے ہيں کہ ان کو حادثے کی صاف شفاف تحقيقات چاہيے تاکہ آئندہ کسی کے ساتھ ايسا نہ ہو۔

کورال طیارہ حادثہ، تحقیقاتی معاونت کیلئے بوئنگ کمپنی کی ٹیم پاکستان آئیگی

کراچی : سانحہ بھوجا ايئر کی تحقيقات ميں معاونت کیلئے طيارہ ساز کمپنی بوئنگ کی چھ رکنی ٹيم آئندہ چند روزميں پاکستان آئے گی۔رن وے سے لمحوں کی دوری پر تباہ ہونے والا بھوجا ايئرکا طيارہ کئی زندگيوں کے چراغ گل کر گيا۔ اس الم ناک حادثے کی تحقيقات شروع ہوچکی ہيں۔ ايئر ٹريفک کنٹرولرزذرائع کے مطابق جہاز کے پائلٹ نے لينڈنگ کي اجازت کے لئے پہلا رابطہ انسٹرومنٹ لينڈنگ سسٹم شام چھ بج کر دس منٹ پر کيا۔طیارے کو کنٹرول ٹاور نے لينڈنگ کی اجازت دے دی۔ دوسرا رابطہ چھ بج کر بيس منٹ پر ہوا۔ جس پر لينڈنگ کی حتمی اجازت دی گئی۔ چھ بج کر اڑتيس منٹ جہاز کا ٹاور سے رابطہ منقطع ہوگيا  اور چھ بج کر چاليس منٹ پر جہاز کريش ہوا۔سول ايوی ايشن اتھارٹی سيفٹی انوسٹی گيشن بورڈ کے سربراہ ايئر کموڈورعبدالمجيد کا کہنا ہے کہ حادثے کے فوراً بعد شواہد اکٹھے کئے گئے اور ان پہلوؤں کی تحقيقات کی جارہی ہيں کہ کيا انجن پہلے بند ہوئے يا آگ لگی يا جہاز گرکر تباہ ہوا۔جہاز  رگڑتا کھاتا ہوا گرا اور طيارے کی حالت کيا تھی۔ ايئر کموڈور عبدالحميد نے بتايا کہ بليک باکس مل چکا ہے اسے  ڈی کورڈنگ  کے لئے بوئنگ کمپنی کے پاس امريکا بھيجا جائيگا۔ بوئنگ کمپنی سےبھی  رابطہ ہوچکا ہے اور ان کی چھ رکنی ٹيم بھی دو سے تين روز ميں تحقيقات ميں مدد کے لئے پاکستان آئے گی۔

Veena Malik, who made headlines for her controversial FHM India shoot, has revealed that she would pose nude for Playboy for 1 million dollars. The Pakistani actress has confessed that she would bare all for the magazine’s centrefold spread if she was asked. She tells Britain’s Daily Mirror, “I’d think about it. Why would I say no? It’s a great opportunity. I’d definitely go for that. That is my job. I am a model and I would consider every single opportunity that comes my way.” The actress would consider disrobing for the US publication despite the furore surrounding her provocative shoot for FHM. She has taken legal action against bosses of the men’s magazine, alleging the apparently nude photos were tampered with after the shoot. Malik received death threats and widespread criticism from Pakistan after the images were published, with many demanding that Malik be barred from returning to the country. Her family too was critical of the shoot, with her father allegedly severing all ties with her. Despite the furore, Malik now admitted she would have no problem baring all for Hugh Hefner’s iconic publication.

Test of patience begins

ISLAMABAD - The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Saturday arrested Umar Farooq Bhoja, owner of Bhoja Airlines, as Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani announced that a judicial commission would investigate Friday’s air crash that killed 127 people on board the plane.
A case for killing 127 people was also registered against Farooq Bhoja with Koral police station, Islamabad.
The FIR lodged into the incident accused the owner of Bhoja Airline of using an outdated aircraft.
Bhoja is currently in the protective custody of FIA for interrogation, while the Interior Ministry also put his name on the Exit Control List (ECL).
However, a private TV channel reported late on Saturday that Bhoja had told interrogators that there were six partners in the airlines. Arshad Jalil, his wife and son owned 80 percent of the shares and Arshad was the managing director, while Bhoja claimed that he owned only five percent of the shares. Two directors of the airlines — Mutahir Hussain and Zeeshan Kareemi – are also shareholders in the business.
Meanwhile, rescue workers have recovered the Cockpit Voice Recorder of the ill-fated plane, however, CAA Director General Nadeem Yousafzai announced that there was no technical fault in the plane, as it had been thoroughly inspected at the Karachi airport before its flight.
Another CAA official said the Boeing 737-200 was 28 years old and had been bought on dry lease from a South African company.
A Bhoja Air official insisted that despite its age, the plane was safe to fly.
“The aircraft was old and second hand but it is not something unusual. The fleet of state-run Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) also runs old aircraft,” Bhoja Air official Masham Zafar told AFP.
“Airlines rarely have brand new planes, and this aircraft was also refurbished. Pakistan Metrological Department Director General Arif Mahmood told Pakistan Today that bad weather warning was provided to CAA twice on Friday. “The first warning was issued at 3pm that cited major aviation hazards, while the second one was issued at around 6pm,” he added. Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani visited Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) on Saturday and directed Interior Minister Rehman Malik to form a judicial commission to probe into incident. The commission would be headed by former chief justice of the Lahore High Court Zahid Hussain Bukhari and would comprise Justice (r) Naseem Sikandar and Dr Wasim Kosar. PIMS spokesman Wasim Khawaja said that most of the relatives had identified their loved ones and the remaining bodies had been sent to a morgue in Sector I/10.
“We would hand over the bodies after DNA tests,” Khawaja said, adding that the process would take five to seven days.
Relatives: But the developments had no calming effect on the aggrieved families, whose loss only amplified on the receipt of as many as 118 bodies of relatives. It was a breakdown indeed. Dozens of coffins lined a hallway of PIMS on Saturday as weeping relatives of the victims slammed the authorities for the disaster.
Staff at PIMS, faces covered with masks, sprayed air freshener to mask the smell of burnt flesh in the room where the remains were being kept, some of them no more than a few body parts.
A dejected woman identifying herself as Mrs Hassan, 45, said she had come to collect the body of her 45-year old cousin Mohammad Yunus, a scholar who had been running a madrassa in Karachi.
“We could not get the full body. We recognised his hand and hair along with his jacket,” she said.
“It’s sheer incompetence of the government. This is the second major accident here in less than two years but the president and the prime minister remain unmoved. If the weather was bad why did they not warn the pilot. Why did they allow the plane to land?” she charged. Abdul Raoof, 55, said he had come for the body of his cousin Ghulam Farooq, 45, who worked for the State Life Insurance Corporation in Islamabad.
“We have been roaming here since early morning. We go inside the mortuary and returned in depression after seeing body parts and severed limbs lying there.”
“We wait, get impatient and then go inside again only to return disappointed. We are traumatised. We want to get the body and leave this place as early as possible.” Raoof blamed the airport control tower for negligence.
“If the weather was bad the plane should have been turned away,” he said. “It is also a mistake of the airline. They sacrificed 127 lives just to save some fuel.”
A majority of affected family members, flown from Karachi on a special Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight, were inconsolable, too overwhelmed with grief to speak.
One young man wept bitterly for the cousin and aunt he lost in the crash, who were returning from pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia.
“I don’t want to talk, please leave us alone,” he told journalists.
Hospital staff sprinkled rose petals on some of the coffins as a gesture of compassion, while police and soldiers consoled relatives.
“My brothers are gone! My brothers are gone!” wailed Mohammad Shahzad, slumping to the ground by the hospital entrance. One brother had been identified, he said, the other remained missing. Both had been on a daylong business trip linked to the transport company run by the three siblings.
“We don’t know what to tell the kids, we don’t know what to tell my mother,” Shahzad said. “They keep calling. I told them there was an accident and we don’t know anything yet.” Ayesha Ishaque pressed her face against a light brown wooden coffin labelled “Body 140”. Her brother, Mohammad Saud Ishaque, had been returning home from studies in Karachi. “Why has God done this to my brother,” she wailed. A senior PIA engineer told AFP the age of the aircraft mattered less than its flying hours, and said he thought an air pocket — a patch of low air pressure — could be to blame.
“Since it was approaching the airport to land it was obviously flying low — between 3,000 and 4,000 feet above the ground,” he said.
“Visibility was also low because it was raining and there was thunder and lightening. The pilot lost control and apparently failed to lift it out of the air pocket.”

عالمی بینک: پاکستان کے لیے ایک ارب 80 کروڑ ڈالر کی منظوری

عالمی بینک رواں مالی سال کے دوران پاکستان کو ترقیاتی منصوبوں کے لیے  ایک ارب اسی کروڑ ڈالر دے گا۔
سرکاری خبر رساں ایجنسی ’اے پی پی‘ کے مطابق وزیر خزانہ عبدالحفیظ شیخ امریکہ کے دورے پر ہیں جہاں انھوں نے عالمی مالیاتی فنڈ ’آئی ایم ایف‘ اور ورلڈ بینک کے عہدیداروں سے ملاقاتیں کی ہیں۔  وزیرخزانہ نے بتایا کہ عالمی بینک کی جانب سے ملنے والی رقم توانائی کے منصوبوں پر خرچ کی جائے گی۔عالمی بینک نے کوہستان میں دریائے سندھ پر داسو کے مقام پر ڈیم کی تعمیر کے لیے مالی معاونت فراہم کرنے پر بھی رضا مندی ظاہر کی ہے۔  داسو ڈیم سے 1500 میگا واٹ بجلی حاصل کی جا سکے گی۔وزیر خزانہ کا کہنا ہے کہ عالمی بینک کے عہدیداروں نے پاکستانی معیشت کی بہتری کے لیے کیے گئے اقدامات کو سراہا ہے اور  ملک میں جاری ترقیاتی منصوبوں پر اعتماد کا اظہار کیا ہے۔عالمی بینک نے گزشتہ سال پاکستان کو توانائی کے شعبے میں انفراسٹرکچر کی بہتری اور سماجی شعبے کے ترقیاتی منصوبوں کے لیے ایک ارب بیس کروڑ ڈالر دئیے تھے۔پاکستان کو اس وقت توانائی کی شدید قلت کا سامنا ہے۔ رواں ماہ کے اوئل میں وزیراعظم یوسف رضا گیلانی کی زیر صدارت توانائی کانفرنس کا اجلاس ہوا تھا جس میں موسم گرما کے دوران  بجلی کی بچت کے لیے اہم اقدامات کی منظوری دی گئی ہے ۔ ان اقدامات میں ہفتے میں دو دن چھوٹی اور مغرب کے بعد کاروباری مراکز بند کروانے سمیت دیگر فیصلے شامل تھے۔  

پاکستان میں فضائی حادثات کی تاریخ

نڈی اسلام آباد کے بینظیر انٹرنیشنل ایئرپورٹ کے قریب نجی ائیر لائن کے طیارے کا حادثہ پاکستان کی تاریخ میں کسی نجی کمرشل فضائی کمپنی کا تیسرا حادثہ ہے۔بھوجا ایئر لائن کی جو پرواز لوئی بھیر کے قریب گر کر تباہ ہوئی ہے اس میں ایک سو ستائیس افراد سوار تھے۔پاکستان میں کسی طیارے کو تقریباً ڈیڑھ سال بعد حادثہ پیش آیا ہے۔ پاکستان میں آخری فضائی حادثہ کراچی میں اٹھائیس نومبر دو ہزار دس کو ہوا تھا جس میں ایک چھوٹا طیارہ کراچی کے قریب گر کر تباہ ہوا تھا اور اس حادثے میں بارہ افراد مارے گئے تھے۔بین الاقوامی فضائی حادثوں اور ہنگامی مواقع پر نظر رکھنے والے نجی دفتر، ’ائر کرافٹ کریشز ریکارڈ آفس‘ کے مطابق اس حادثے سے قبل پاکستان میں پینتیس ایسے حادثے ہوئے ہیں جن میں سات سو پانچ افراد ہلاک ہوئے ہیں۔پاکستان کی فضائی تاریخ کا سب سے جان لیوا حادثہ بھی اسلام آباد کے قریب ہی اٹھائیس جولائی دو ہزار دس کو پیش آیا تھا جب ایئر بلیو کی ایک سو باون افراد سے بھری ائر بس تین سو اکیس مارگلہ کی پہاڑیوں سے جا ٹکرائی تھی۔اس سے قبل دس جولائی سن دو ہزار چھ کو سرکاری ہوائی کمپنی پاکستان انٹرنیشنل ائر لائن کا فوکر طیارہ ملتان ائر پورٹ سے اڑان بھرنے کے کچھ دیر بعد ہی گر کر تباہ ہو گیا تھا۔ اُس میں پینتالیس افراد ہلاک ہوئے جن میں ہائی کورٹ کے دو جج، فوج کے دو بریگیڈئر اور بہاؤالدین ذکریا یونیورسٹی کے وائس چانسلر بھی شامل تھے۔ مسافروں کی اموات کا سبب بننے والے حادثوں کی تفصیل کچھ یوں ہے۔

بین الاقوامی فضائی حادثوں اور ہنگامی مواقع پر نظر رکھنے والے نجی دفتر، ’ائر کرافٹ کریشز ریکارڈ آفس‘ کے مطابق اس حادثے سے قبل پاکستان میں پینتیس ایسے حادثے ہوئے ہیں جن میں سات سو پانچ افراد ہلاک ہوئے ہیں۔

ری ہوائی کمپنی پاکستان اٹرنیشنل ایئر لائنز یا ابتداء میں پاک ائر ویز، کو گیارہ حادثے اندرونِ ملک ہی پیش آئے جن میں سے پانچ حادثے فوکر طیاروں کے تھے۔ سن دو ہزار چھ میں ملتان کا فوکر طیارے کا حادثہ پی آئی اے کی تاریخ کا اندرونِ ملک سب سے جان لیوا حادثہ تھا جس کے بعد فوکر طیاروں کا استعمال بند کر دیا گیا۔پاکستان میں اب تک فوجی مسافر طیاروں کے دس حادثے پیش آئے ہیں۔ آخری حادثہ پاکستان ائر فورس کے فوکر طیارے کا تھا جو بیس فروری سن دو ہزار تین کو پیش آیا۔ کوہاٹ کے قریب گر کر تباہ ہونے والے اس طیارے میں اس وقت کے پاکستانی فضائیہ کے سربراہ ائر چیف مارشل مصحف علی میر سترہ افسران سمیت مارے گئے تھے۔دارالحکومت اسلام آباد کی مارگلہ پہاڑیوں میں اٹھائیس جولائی سن دو ہزار دس کو اندرونِ ملک ہونے والا حادثہ کسی کمرشل نجی ہوائی کمپنی کا پہلا اور ملکی تاریخ کا سب سے جان لیوا فضائی حادثہ ہے۔پاکستانی فضائیہ کے لیے اب تک مال بردار طیارے ہرکولیس سی ون تھرٹی سب سے زیادہ جان لیوا ثابت ہوئے ہیں جن میں خصوصی کیپسول رکھ کر مسافروں کے لیے استعمال کیا جاتا رہا ہے۔ ہرکولیس سی ون تھرٹی کے چار حادثوں میں سے سترہ اگست انیس سو اٹھاسی کو بہاولپور کے قریب پیش آنے والا حادثہ قابلِ ذکر ہے جو اس وقت کے صدر اور فوجی آمر جنرل ضیاء الحق سمیت تیس اہم شخصیات اور فوجی افسران کی موت کا سبب بنا۔پاکستانی سرزمین پر گزشتہ تریسٹھ برس میں غیر ملکی ہوائی کمپنیوں کے نو فوجی اور غیر فوجی مسافر بردار طیاروں کو .حادثے پیش آئے ہیں۔ ان میں سے تین حادثوں میں افغانستان کے مسافر بردار طیارے گر کر تباہ ہوئے۔ تیرہ جنوری انیس سو اٹھانوے کو افغان ہوائی کمپنی آریانا ایئر کا مسافر طیارہ خوژک پہاڑی سلسلے میں توبہ اچکزئی کے علاقے میں گرا۔ اس حادثے میں اکاون مسافر ہلاک ہوئے اور یہ اٹھائیس جولائی دو ہزار دس سے پہلے تک پاکستانی سرزمین پر سب سے زیادہ جان لیوا فضائی حادثہ تھا۔ نو جنوری سن دو ہزار دو کو امریکی ائر فورس کا ہرکولیس سی ون تھرٹی بلوچستان کی شمسی ائر بیس کے قریب گر کر تباہ ہوا اور سات مسافروں کی موت کا سبب بنا۔ یہ پاکستان میں کسی غیر ملکی طیارے کا آخری حادثہ تھا۔چوبیس فروری سن دو ہزار تین میں ایدھی ائر ایمبولینس کا سیسنا چار سو دو طیارہ کراچی کے قریب آٹھ مسافروں کی موت کا سبب بنا۔      

لاشوں کی شناخت جاری، عدالتی کمیشن کا قیام

                                                   

                                                                                                                   : اسلام آباد بیورو رپورٹپاکستان کے دارالحکومت اسلام آباد کے نواح میں مسافر طیارے کے حادثے میں ہلاک ہونے والے ایک سو ستائیس افراد میں سے ایک سو دو کی شناخت کر لی گئی ہے جبکہ وزیراعظم گیلانی نے حادثے کے تحقیقات کے لیے عدالتی کمیشن کے قیام کا اعلان کیا ہے۔فضائی حادثے میں ہلاک ہونے والے افراد کی باقیات اسلام آباد کے پمز ہسپتال منتقل کی گئیں تھیں جہاں شناخت کے بعد میتیں لواحقین کے حوالے کر دی گئیں۔نامہ نگار شہزاد ملک کے مطابق ہسپتال انتظامیہ کا کہنا ہے کہ ایک باقی پچیس افراد کی شناخت کے لیے ڈی این اے ٹیسٹ لیے جائیں گے اور اس عمل کو مکمل ہونے میں دو دن لگ سکتے ہیں۔وزیراعظم یوسف رضا گیلانی نے فضائی حادثے کی تحقیقات کے لیے عدالتی کمیشن قائم کرنے کا اعلان کیا ہے۔ تاہم اس اعلان میں یہ نہیں بتایا گیا کہ اس عدالتی کمیشن کی سربراہی سپریم کورٹ یا کسی ہائی کورٹ کے جج کریں گے۔اُنہوں نے کہا کہ وزیر داخلہ رحمان ملک کو عدالتی کمیشن کے قیام کے لیے ہدایات دے دی گئی ہے۔وزیر اعظم سے جب یہ پوچھا گیا کہ اس سے پہلے ائربلیو کے حادثے کی تحقیقات سے متعلق لوگوں کو تحفظات ہیں کہ تحقیقات میں تمام پہلووں کو مدنظر نہیں رکھا گیا جس پر یوسف رضا گیلانی کا کہنا تھا کہ اسی بات کو مدنظر رکھتے ہوئے رکھتے ہوئے جوڈیشل تحقیقات کا حکم دیا گیا ہے۔

پمیںاکح      پاکستان میں حادثے شکار ہونے والی بھوجا ایئر لائن کئی سال مالی بحران کا شکار رہی، اس پہلی نجی ایئر لائن نے سنہ انیس سو ترانوے میں نواز شریف کے دورِ حکومت میں اپنے آپریشن کا آغاز کیا تھا۔

اس وقت کراچی لاہور اور کوئٹہ کے درمیان پروازیں شروع کی گئی تھیں۔ کمپنی کے پاس اس آپریشن کے لیےبوئنگ 747 طیارے موجود تھے۔
انیس سو اٹھانوے میں بھوجا ایئر لائن نے پہلی مرتبہ بین الاقوامی پرواز یعنی کراچی سے دبئی پروازوں کاآغاز کیا۔ اس کے بعد یہ پروازیں ملک کے تمام اہم شہروں سے شروع کی گئیں مگر مالی بحران کی وجہ سے یہ آپریشن سنہ دو ہزار ایک میں معطل کر دیا گیا۔
کراچی سے نامہ نگار ریاض سہیل کے مطابق تقریباً ایک دہائی کے بعد مارچ سنہ دو ہزار بارہ میں بھوجا ایئر لائن نے اپنا دوسرا جنم لیا اور چند پروازیں بحال کیں۔
اس موقع پر بھوجا ایئر لائن کی انتظامیہ نے اس بات کا اعادہ کیا تھا کہ وہ یورپ اور امریکہ پروازوں کا ارادہ بھی رکھتے ہیں۔
دوبارہ آپریشن کی بحالی کے موقع پر ڈائریکٹر مینجمنٹ انفارمیشن عمر جلیل کا کہنا تھا کہ مسافروں کی سکیورٹی ان کی اولین ترجیح رہے گی۔
سول ایوی ایشن حکام کا کہنا ہے کہ حالیہ دنوں میں اس آپریشن کی بحالی کے بعد بھوجا ایئر لائن کی یہ کراچی سے وفاقی دارالحکومت اسلام آباد کے لیے پہلی پرواز تھی۔
یاد رہے کہ یورپی یونین کی سول ایوی ایشن نے پاکستان کی قومی ایئر لائن پر بھی ایک عرصے کے لیے پابندی عائد کردی تھی۔
اس کا کہنا تھا کہ یہ طیارے پرواز کے قابل نہیں تھے۔ بعد میں حکام نے ان طیاروں کو تبدیل کردیا۔
بھوجا ایئر لائن نے حادثے کی وجہ خراب موسم کو قرار دیا ہے تاہم عینی شاہدین کا کہنا ہے کہ انہوں نے طیارے میں آگ لگی ہوئی دیکھی تھی۔
سول ایوی ایشن حادثے کی وجہ جاننے کے لیے ابھی تحقیقات کر رہی ہے۔
البتہ انگریزی زبان کے اخبار ’دی نیشن‘ کے مطابق بوئینگ 737-200 طیاروں کے استعمال پر کئی ممالک نے پابندی عائد کر رکھی ہے۔
حادثے کا شکار ہونے والا طیارہ بھی اسی ساخت کا تھا۔

 ISLAMABAD: Bhoja Airlines' plane crash in which 116 passengers and 9 crew lost their lives was the 36th incident of passenger planes in Pakistan. Prior to this incident 705 people were dead in 35 airspace incidents.
The current airplane incident was the third mishap of any private airlines in Islamabad.
A small plane had crashed in Karachi on November 28, 2010, killing twelve people.
According to the world record of airspace incidents, Pakistan's major plane crash occurred on July 28, 2010 at Margala Hills in which 152 people were dead.
In 2006, a fokker plane of PIA crashed near Multan airport which claimed 45 lives. Fokker planes were restricted to fly after the incident.
